Who we are
We bring together the people who keep essential services running, to talk honestly about what happens when things break.
Black Sky Events is an independent Australian events company. Convening practitioners is our core work, and we also publish research and briefings that come out of it. What we do not do is sell consultancy or vendor solutions off the back of the agenda.
What has changed
Modern disruption is systemic and prolonged: cloud concentration, destructive cyber attack, supplier collapse, infrastructure failure. Conventional resilience thinking assumes something narrower.
What has not
Most industry events give the stage to suppliers. Attendees get an exhibition hall and a keynote that reads like a brochure.
What we do about it
A practical, practitioner-led event where the people responsible for critical services study real failures and practise the decisions before they have to make them.
How we run our events

No sales pitches
Talks are given by people who do the work. Companies take part by hosting working groups, not by presenting from the main stage.

Limited vendor places
We limit vendor and consultancy passes so most people in the audience are in-house teams and conversations stay open.

Chatham House Rule
Working groups run under the Chatham House Rule. Content may be used; attribution may not.

Notes you can take home
After every event we publish a summary report of what was discussed and send it to everyone who attended.
The advisory board
The program is shaped by an advisory board of serving practitioners. They review the agenda, test the case studies, and hold us to the standard that the room is worth a day out of an executive diary. The board is being seated ahead of the 2027 summits; members are named publicly only with their employer's consent.
